Saddle Up for a Backcountry Experience You Won’t Forget

There’s nothing quite like riding deep into the mountains, setting up camp, and soaking in the kind of silence you can only find miles off the grid. Leigh Creek Outfitters offers 2–7 night guided pack trips through the stunning backcountry of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and Jedediah Smith Wilderness. Whether you're looking for a quiet escape, a true Western experience, or time to reconnect with nature, our pack trips offer a one-of-a-kind way to explore the Tetons—off the beaten path, and on horseback.

Pack horses and two riders on a trail through a mountainous landscape with green grass and patches of snow under a blue sky with clouds.

What To Expect

  • Our Locations & Trail Access

Our pack trips take you deep into the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and Jedediah Smith Wilderness—areas only accessible by foot or horseback. These aren’t “loop rides” or scenic lookouts. You’ll be riding into true backcountry terrain, far from the crowds and roads. Exact trailheads and routes may vary based on trip length, trail conditions, and wildlife activity, but we’ll send detailed directions and prep info in your confirmation email.

  • How To Book Your Trip

Click “Book Now” to view available dates and submit your request. Pack trips require a bit more planning, so we’ll follow up directly to confirm details and finalize the logistics. If you’re unsure what kind of trip fits your group, just reach out—we’re happy to help walk you through it.

  • What Happens Next

Once booked, we’ll send you everything you need to prepare—including gear lists, what to pack, directions, and arrival details. On the day of your trip, we’ll load your camp gear onto the pack horses, go over safety and ride basics, and head into the mountains. You’ll ride with your group and a guide, set up camp, and settle in for meals, campfire evenings, and wide-open sky.
